Michigan Innovations in Addiction Care
through Research & Education
Welcome to MI-ACRE!
We're a team of University of Michigan addiction researchers and clinicians focused on embracing cutting-edge research and innovative evidence-based practices to drive continuous improvement in addiction prevention, care, training and education.
MI-ACRE is part of the University of Michigan Addiction Center in the Department of Psychiatry at Michigan Medicine.
NEW! A national community for contingency management (CM) learning. Join monthly meetings to ask questions, share what’s working, and learn from CM experts across the country.
MI-ACRE Co-Director Dr. Lara Coughlin is a founding facilitator of the National CM Community of Practice and co-facilitates the series along with University of Vermont's Dr. Tyler Erath and Dr. Richard Rawson.

MI-ACRE Staff Gathering
Food, laughter, connection—and a little soccer! On October 9, MI-ACRE study staff came together for an autumn evening of fun. It was a wonderful opportunity to relax, catch up, and celebrate the people who make our MI-ACRE research community so special.
We’re grateful for our entire MI-ACRE team, near and far, and can’t wait for our next gathering! 💙💛
MI-ACRE at AHSR 2026 - Salt Lake City
It was wonderful to see colleagues from across the country at the 2026 Addiction Health Services Research (AHSR) conference in Salt Lake City and connect over all things contingency management (CM). Our MI-ACRE & National CM Community of Practice Happy Hour brought together researchers, practitioners, and others interested in substance use research for an evening of amazing food, good company, and lively conversation.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared ideas, and helped make the gathering so enjoyable!
