MI-ACRE Co-Director Dr. Lara Coughlin has been selected as a 2025 Research Scout

Research Scouts are, "outstanding scientists from diverse backgrounds and various career stages who demonstrate immense curiosity, creativity, and calculated risk-taking. Scouts have an innate tendency to support the success of others". 

As a 2025 Research Scout, Dr. Coughlin will be able to grant a single award of $150,000 or two awards of $75,000 to "Scout Scholar" awardees, Medical School scientists with compelling, new ideas.

Dr. Allison Lin Receives Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) 

Congratulations to our MI-ACRE Co-Director, Dr. Allison Lin, on being honored with the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), the highest honor bestowed by the U.S. government on outstanding scientists and engineers beginning their independent research careers. 

This prestigious recognition by President Biden acknowledges Dr. Lin's exceptional contributions to addiction science and research through her leadership positions at the VA Ann Arbor Health Care System and the University of Michigan. 

Dr. Anne Fernandez and Dr. Lara Coughlin received a NIH-funded R34 grant: Cultivating Recovery: A Pilot Study of Digital Contingency Management for Co-occurring Opioid and Alcohol Use Disorder. 

This new grant is funded through the Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) initiative and focuses on using a digital contingency management intervention to help address polysubstance use, specifically opioid & alcohol use. 

Dr. Allison Lin's team received a new NIDA funded 5-year R61/R33 grant Coalition for harm reduction and prevention (CHRP): Developing and testing a novel Hub and Spoke Model to implement prevention and harm reduction in rural clinics

The focus is on testing implementation of prevention and harm reduction services in rural primary care and mental health clinics in Michigan using a Hub and Spoke model.

Dr. Maureen Walton was installed as the first Toby Brzoznowski Research Professor in Behavioral Health Technology Innovations.

Dr. Erin Bonar was installed as the first Kathy Fant Brzoznowski Research Professor in Behavioral Health Technology Innovations.

The Professorship Installation Inauguration took place on August 22, 2024.
